Boniface (680-754). Apostle to the Germans whose courage in felling the sacred oak tree of Thor at Geismar won him a considerable following. After establishing a thriving Church in Germany he was martyred in Frieseland in what is now the northern part of the Netherlands. The pictures on this page depict his martyrdom.
